Professional Appraisal Standards

Appraisals are important documents that often serve as a basis for a legal action such as divorce, probate or charitable donation. As such appraisers must employ the highest standards of professional practice and comply with IRS regulations.

Bensoussan Associates adhere to the ethics rules and professional standards set forth by the American Society of Appraisers and by the national non-profit Appraisal Foundation, published in USPAP (Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice).

Pamela Bensoussan is an accredited senior member of American Society of Appraisers (ASA) a Past President of the San Diego ASA Chapter and a current board member of the Houston ASA Chapter. She is a Qualified Expert Witness and professional member in the Forensic Expert Witness Association (FEWA).

Pamela Bensoussan has over 35 years experience in the world of decorative and fine arts. Her career has included a ten-year residence in Paris where she operated a gallery on the Left Bank's rue de l 'Université in the famous Carré Rive Gauche. During this period she also worked as consultant to a major Parisian auction house and archivist for an international art investment firm based in Switzerland.

In the US, Pamela Bensoussan has owned and operated galleries in San Francisco and San Diego. She has authored numerous articles and given lectures on topics ranging from connoisseurship and the arts to historic preservation. In 2008, Ms. Bensoussan was elected to the Chula Vista City Council in San Diego County and re-elected in 2012. She is a Senior Member and past San Diego Chapter President of the American Society of Appraisers. Her appraisal offices are located in Houston Texas and San Diego, California.
